Welcome to our holiday letter for 2008!Last February we moved to a new house just a couple miles from where we spent our first year in N.C. Now, we will likely be moving again this January or Feb, as I've bought a house! It's just one street away from where we are now. In other news, we had fun on some vacations this year - Feb. trip to Orlando, summer trip to the ocean, and in Sept, a trip to Upstate New York and D.C. and the ocean!
Let's catch up with the girls:
Jie Jie [big sister] - started Kindergarten this summer and now she is busy reading storybooks. It's just amazing how quickly that takes off for the kiddos. She loves school. She is again practicing dances for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration. She took tennis lessons and swim lessons this summer. She has really matured this year, not a little girl anymore, but truly a "school age girl", if that makes any sense.
Mei Mei [little sister] - has learned to enjoy school and has made little girlfriends there. She is just so happy and silly, she brings us so much joy. She has learned to love the art of cooking, mainly baking but also has a few special dinners she has mastered... meatloaf for one. She put on some pounds and really grew tall this year, and we know next year will bring the same!
My update: Last year I started my part-time gig at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. This January, I'll go up to 30-hours a week, which is a good balance between 1. needing income and 2. wanting to be with my dragon girls! I have loved having some days each week with one-on-one time with Mei Mei. But, I really do miss my Jie Jie during the days.
D's update: D went on several road trips this year, in addition to Orlando and Upstate New York, he also we up to NYC to watch the Padres play in Yankee stadium. His big news, however, is that he finished up work on his degree and celebrated his graduation in December in ice cold Indy.
In January we'll celebrate the Chinese Year of the Ox. I hope that 2009, and the Year of the Ox, will be very good to you and your family!
Take care -K, D, J, kp.s. If you'd like to keep up with the girls' adventures in 2009, please visit our main blog at: http://www.dragonsisters.blogspot.com/
